DIY Coffee Mugs

DIY

In an attempt to save time, money, and my sanity, I have opted to skip holiday shopping at the malls this year and create handmade gifts for my friends and family instead. Not only did these mugs come out looking totally adorable, but they were a fun DIY project and the process was ridiculously easy!

Supplies needed:

Plain white coffee mugs (Target for $3)
Stick on scrapbook letters
Sharpie brand oil based paint pens

First, wash the mugs and peel any stickers off the bottom. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Stick the scrapbook letter on the mug where you want it placed – this took me a couple tries before I got it just right. Pick your first color, and start making as many dots as you’d like around the letter. The more dots, the better the finished product will look! You can use one color or two; I chose to add a second one to give it an extra splash of sass (pink is also my favorite color).  If you mess up you can use a wet Q-tip to wipe away the dot, but this must be done quickly as the dots will dry fairly fast! When you are finished with your masterpiece, bake your mugs for 30 minutes in the oven. I have washed these in the dishwasher to test the quality and they came out unharmed, but I would suggest hand washing just to be on the safe side. Happy Holidays!
